Venomous

The CM 60 concept was established to meet a client's demands for an exciting but easily handled boat that would be competitive under all racing formats. With similar general characteristics to the Farr 45, the CM 60 is very fast for its size with excellent handling ability. The boat is very competitive under IRC, with an emphasis on fast light airs performance.

The deck layout is primarily designed for racing. Twin wheels and two grinder pedestals give good central cockpit space and a clean-looking, workable layout. Cockpit sides are inboard at the forward end of the cockpit and a half-height bridge deck gives way to more space below to accommodate the interior, without compromising cockpit use.

The rig features a formula similar to that used successfully on the Farr 45, Mumm 30 and Farr 40 One Design – carbon spar with two swept spreaders and no running backstays. Generous sail area enables the CM 60 to be very fast relative to its size.

Venomous benefits from both fractional or masthead spinnakers for scintillating offwind speed. The jib sheets to a longitudinal track and uses a hydraulic inhaul adjuster system, giving a good range of trim control. Forestay load and mast bend is controlled through the masthead backstay with an external hydraulic system.

The bow sprit design reflects the latest thinking at Farr Yacht Design. A deep, low keel provides stability to carry the large sail area and produce exceptional upwind speed. Hull and deck construction uses carbon laminates on foam cores.

Venomous benefits from excellent below decks accommodation - large saloon area and galley and well equipped Navigation station do not compromise the fast efficient sailing

Built by Carroll Marine of Bristol, Rhode Island, the CM 60 has already generated great interest in different areas of the world.

Venomous is available for all regattas in the Caribbean 2008 season either through individual berths or for a group bookings.

She sails with a crew of up to 16 people and as she is skippered they can come with any level of experience.

She has an extensive sail wardrobe, which is constantly being upgraded and includes a choice of 8 spinnakers.

In 2007 Venomous under went a complete refit including new paint on the deck and hull. Her rig with modern swept back spreader arrangement.
