Individual Berths
Windward Sailing has for the past 10 years offered individual places on their race yachts to compete in Offshore races set predominantly by the Royal Ocean Race Club. (R.O.R.C.) who are the main governing body for offshore racing and set courses that test the stamina and skills of all the crews who participate.
We specialise in racing and offer places only on race yachts, pedigree Class 1 Grand Prix yachts for those who like the thrills and spills of big yacht racing. All the yachts that we use have been designed for racing and are all competitive.
Our skippers have years of racing experience and are only too willingly to pass on race tactics, sail trimming, navigation, helming etc onto any willing crew member. It is important that all the crew work well together to gain the most from themselves as well as the yacht and this will be the skipper's main goal when setting sail. Training and advice will be given during each race to ensure that both the yacht and crew are sailing to their optimum performance.
Our racing weekends are intended to enable yachtsmen without boats to sail with like-minded crew on fast, high performance yachts. Sailing experience is not required, but enthusiasm and commitment are essential. Sailing in races is demanding, but the excitement it brings more than compensates for the lack of comfort found on slower cruising boats.

Our Yachts
A number of yachts may be used for our racing and training programme including our Round the World Volvo 60, Our RORC Championship winner, Incisor (Corby 45). All these boats are owned and managed by Windward Sailing and maintained to a high standard. All the yachts are modern, thoroughbred racing yachts.
The Individual Berths Booking Form contains a list of dates, events, destinations, timescales and costs, with information about the actual races detailed below.
The cost quoted is per person and includes yacht, skipper, crewmember, all food onboard, race entry fees (where applicable), mooring fees, yacht insurance and general yacht expenses. No hidden extras. The only additional money you will need is for your beer and the odd evening meal ashore and flights if applicable..
