Suggested Itenerary
Day 1 - Arrival at Falmouth Harbour - Antigua
Flights from the UK usually arrive into Antigua in the afternoon. (There is a 4 hour time difference) It should take 30 minutes from the airport to the yacht. Once on board we can drop our bags and head off to the Mad Mongoose in time for Happy Hour followed by an evening meal. After a few beers and Rum punches we can retire back to the boat for our first night on board in the Marina.
Day 2 – Practice sail
We would aim to have a leisurely start with breakfast ashore and allow time to prepare the yacht with provisions from the local store and be ready to have a practice sail in the afternoon before returning in time for a swim at Pigeon Beach before returning to port in time again for Happy Hour at the Mad Mongoose. The evening meal will be at ‘Trappas;’ one of the more popular eateries in the area.
Day 3
After breakfast on board we will have relatively early start for a sail to Nevis the passage should take about 6 hours. This may be your first experience of sailing in the sunshine and breeze in shorts and tee shirt, with the only problem having to reapply the sun screen.
Nevis is said to be one of the most unspoilt islands of the Caribbean, it is where Nelson met and married his wife and so is steeped in naval history. Nevis offers excellent snorkelling as well as the mandatory empty sandy beaches.
We will anchor near to the main town of Charleston in a secluded bay. We will launch the dinghy and motor ashore to a local beach restaurant.
Day 4
After a morning swim and breakfast onboard we will have an easy sail to the nearby island of St Kitts, we will find a spot to anchor in Basseterre Bay. After a swim off the yacht we will launch the dinghy fire up the outboard and head for the nearest bar on the sea front of the bustling town of Basseterre. Here you will have a chance to buy a few tacky souvenirs and tee shirts. The night will be spent at anchor in the bay.
Day 5
After breakfast and swim we head off for a brisk sail to St Barts (St Barthelemy) we will anchor in Gustavia bay for a swim with the turtles. We will then RIB ashore and soak up the atmosphere of the town, the holiday haunt of the rich and famous, so we will find ourselves in good company. However you may find the cost of drinks a little higher than on other Caribbean islands so we may have to watch the sun go down drinking rum punches on board.
Day 6
Breakfast will once again be onboard then we set off for a new location on Antigua – Jolly Harbour. With its long sandy beaches. At Jolly harbour you may wish to take the opportunity to visit the Islands capital – St Johns or go zip wiring through the rain forest.
Day 7
After breakfast ashore we will have a late departure to Falmouth harbour to arrive early afternoon in time again for Happy Hour at the Mad Mongoose.
Day 8
A leisurely breakfast ashore perhaps a swim. Tidy Venomous after our adventures including packing. Normally the UK flight departure time is in the evening so you can all benefit from a full day in the sunshine.
