Tuesday Night abandoned

For the first time in our history of competing in the Island Sailing club’s Tuesday night races (some 30 years) The race this week was abandoned, after the AP was hoisted we checked the race instructions to see what happened next and we found no provision for a postponement so rare an event was it.
We had extremely light SE winds with a very strong tide ebbing towards the west, there was no guarantee that boats could sail against the tide. The race committee were concerned about the safety of the yachts as the starts line is right near the entrance to the harbour with the ferried still running. This gave us the opportunity to support the finances of the Island Sailing Club at the bar
